Rain! What rain?
Cold! What cold?
There’s candy to be had in the company of friends.
There’s people to frighten and overcome with tricks &
What’s more, they’ll dole out fist after fist full of treats.
Let the rain wash us slick, like the yellow leaf-pasted streets.
Let the cold creep in though our uniforms if it dares
in these hearts like summer warm and equally light.
We who chatter and criss-cross streets,
find the chocolate factory backs us,
and Jacks of the lantern, though ugly,
guide us happily from door to door.
