As you lay freezing on the concrete steps,
snow invading your travel bed,
did Mommy and Daddy enter your mind?
Did you wonder why they’d left you behind?
You must’ve cried for them to hear,
expecting it to soften their hearts
and bring you back into their arms,
where you would melt them with your charms.
But as the hours dragged on
the temperature fell
and they choose not to reappear.
But never you fret;
in time they will regret
treating a little angel with neglect.
drift away on sweet lullabies
knowing God heard your helpless cries
and helped you escape winter’s bitter bind.
tomorrow you will delight,
as again you witness Divine’s might,
laying in loving arms
that will protect you from harm.
